Gators win NCAA 2007 BasketBall Championship

Gators win the 2007 NCAA Basketball Championship back to back. Its a tough match alright and Gators did deliver big time. Gainesville will become a rowdy town now.

Florida Gators are now part of college sports history and there are plenty of records to take home tonight.

1. Florida wins its second NCAA Basketball Title ( back to back .. last such repeat was by Duke in 1991-2)
2. (Guess) Its the only team to defeat the same opponent, Ohio State Buckeyes, in both the FB & BB finals.
3. Lee Humphrey has the most 3-Pointers (47) in NCAA Tournaments ever.

Also, Florida Gators is the only team to win both Football and Basketball championships in the same year.

Gators win 2006 BCS Football Championship

… FLASH Update: Gators win 2007 NCAA Basketball Championship …

With a comfortable 41-14 lead over OSU buckeyes. Who could have guessed. Frankly, all we prayed for was a miraculous victory with a narrow margin. In fact, this is Gator’s best game of the season as well. Buckeyes were crushed mercilessly with a 34-14 by the halftime. This is an awesome game-response to the way media was going all ga-ga for the buckeyes since a month or so.

BTW, We won the basketball championship as well in last April.

Again, its great to be a FLORIDA GATOR. Fortunate times to be around in UF campus.

By the way, coach Meyer said he would write a book about this game one day.

This match had all the elements for a Hollywood thriller.

This is gators’ first championship and hence UF is a Basket-Ball school as well. Gators win it in style, setting several new records. This is the straight 18th NCAA match victory. The 6ft-11 Noah Joakim is the most outstanding player with 16 points, nine rebounds and a record six blocks in the final (and a record 29 blocks in the tournament). Coach Billy Donovan becomes second youngest to lead a team to NCAA Championship.
